When it comes to parenting, am I the only one who’s just wingin’ it? When I had my first baby, I read a lot of books, but I still felt like I was just figuring things out on my own. Then, during my second pregnancy, I thought that having another baby would be a breeze. After all, I had done it before, right? Wrong. We soon discovered that we weren’t just adding a second baby to our family, but also a third — we were having identical twins. My twin pregnancy was a roller coaster: I had several complications and spent over two months on bed rest in the hospital. Our miracle babies were born prematurely and spent a few weeks in the NICU. Having premature babies was a whole new experience. Having a newborn is hard enough; having two premature babies is just killer.
With all of these new parenting experiences, I have found that the Uplift Families website is a great place to find any parenting resource you can imagine. This site can lead you to a wealth of knowledge! Uplift Families also has a YouTube channel full of TIPS (videos Teaching Important Parenting Skills).
Uplift Families is the initiative of Utah’s First Lady, Jeanette Herbert. Its purpose is to 1) strengthen parent-child relationships, 2) provide tools and resources that improve parenting skills, and 3) help children make safe and healthy choices. The best part is that there is an annual parenting conference to inspire and help parents to lead in a way that their children can succeed. After all, the family is everything.
The 2016 Uplift Families Parenting Conference Luau will be held on August 27 at the Thanksgiving Point Show Barn in Lehi, Utah. There will be dinner, entertainment, speakers, prize giveaways, and more! I am so excited for this event!
You can use the code 2016$5offRFAT to get a $5 discount on your tickets, making it just $10 per person, which is such a great value for a date night! You can purchase tickets and learn more about this year’s speakers here. I hope to see you there!
