I love saving money! I’m always looking for easy ways to save more. The key is that it has to be really EASY in order for me to make a change. This week I’m focusing on how to save money on utilities and energy because the savings potential is hundreds or thousands!
Be Smart with your Electricity
1. Go Solar!
Making the switch to solar power may seem like a big step, but it’s actually so easy! With the right solar company, you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Your savings with solar power are huge! Most customers who finance their solar panels pay less for their system than what they used to pay the power company. If your solar power system matches your energy usage, you can bring your monthly power bill down to $0. When you produce your own power, you can save $20,000 to $100,000 over the lifetime of your solar panels!
I’ve been incredibly impressed with Beautifi Solar! They take incredibly good care of their customers. Beautifi offers the best combination of high quality solar energy systems at an affordable price. It has never been easier to switch to clean, sustainable energy!

2. Switch to LED Light bulbs.
LED light bulbs are 10 times more efficient than traditional ones. They use less energy and last much longer, so you don’t have to change them as often.
Plus, if you go solar with Beautifi, they will thrown it 10 free LED light bulbs. That’s even more energy-efficient savings in your pocket!
3. Plug in to Smart Power Strips.
You’ve probably heard that you can save power by unplugging electronics and appliances that you are not using. While it’s so true than you can, who has time for all that hassle? That’s why this smart power strip is so genius! It automatically shuts off power to the items plugged in that are not in use.
Save Money on Utilities by Keeping out Drafts.
4. Switch your window coverings to thermal curtains.
Thermal curtains are home design with purpose. I love them! We originally got thermal curtains when we rented an old 1950’s house with original single pane windows. The living room had three great big windows that let all the cold air right in during winter. The year that we put up these curtains our gas billed decreased by nearly 50%. I was amazed! They made the room much more comfortable too.
The best part about thermal curtains is that you can get whatever design you like best for your home. My favorites are this navy trellis, gray chevron, and yellow/black floral.
5. Use draft blockers by your doors.
Doors are a huge area of air exchange. Getting some simple draft blockers like these is an easy and affordable way to reduce that air flow.
6. Seal your sockets for extra draft protection.
Did you know that your power sockets on exterior walls are also a place where outside air can get in? Socket sealers are super easy to install, and they are designed to insulate the open space around sockets. With all of your drafts sealed, you should be able to save some money in your energy-efficient home!
