I love saving money, and I do everything I can to live a frugal lifestyle, but there is still something inside of me that loves to go shopping. When I buy something for myself, I feel like I have to earn it. That’s why I love finding new ways to make extra money.
When I left my job to stay at home full-time with kids, I started small and looked for easy and anonymous ways to earn some extra cash. Those small ways included rewards sites, surveys, and micro-tasks. As I’ve gained confidence and a desire to earn more, I’ve branched out to do things like freelance writing and design, selling, and blogging. I’ve compiled this list of resources for you to get started making extra money from home. By doing these activities, you can earn anywhere from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars. This list starts with the small stuff and then goes big. Here we go!
1. Get paid for your opinion by completing online surveys.
I like doing online surveys because it is such an easy and simple way to get an extra bit of cash. The key to making surveys worth it is first to find out what types of surveys you like best, and then to find the surveys that are most worth your time. I have a whole list of my favorite survey sites and the types of things they feature. My favorite surveys are consumer panels and quick polls. I recommend Swagbucks and Pinecone Research for consumer panels and Harris Poll and Paid Viewpoint for polls. There are so many more options that you can read about here.
2. Get cash back every time you shop with Ebates.
Ebates is a cashback site that is so easy to use! You simply choose what store you want to shop on ebates.com, then you complete your purchase just the way you normally would, and bingo! — You’ve just earned a rebate on your purchase. Ebates will send you a check or deposit your earnings straight to your PayPal account. You get real CASH back when you shop! They are reliable and offer a huge selection of stores so that you can save money anytime you buy something online. When you sign up through this link, Ebates will give you $10. You can read a complete review of Ebates here.

3. Be rewarded for being online with Swagbucks and Inbox Dollars.
I actually have fun with Swagbucks! There are several ways that you can earn points, called Swagbucks (SB), including taking surveys, watching videos, and shopping online, among many other ways. You can then exchange your SB for gift cards to PayPal, Amazon, Target, restaurants, movies, and more. Because there are easy ways to get bonus points, I don’t dedicate very much time to it, and every month I usually get enough gift cards to pay for diapers. Here’s $5 just to sign up for Swagbucks and have opportunities to earn much more. You’ve got nothing to lose; sign up now!
Inbox Dollars is very similar to Swagbucks, but they offer cash instead of rewards points. They have many easy ways to earn, including checking email, searching the internet, and watching videos. You can also earn from their surveys or by accepting special offers from their partners. Inbox Dollars will also give you a $5 bonus just for signing up!
4. Sell your used clothes to ThredUp.
ThredUp is a website where you can buy and sell gently used name brand clothing. It is a great place to buy inexpensive clothes that are so cute! What I love most is how easy it is to sell your used clothes. ThredUp sends you a bag that you fill with your clothes, then you leave it on your doorstep for the mail carrier to pick, and that’s it! Your account is credited after your clothes are received and evaluated for quality. When you create your account, ThredUp will give you a $10 credit.
5. Work independently driving for Uber.
When I took a trip to San Fransisco, I rode everywhere with Uber, and it went so smoothly every time! I am seriously considering driving for them myself. Some drivers can make a full-time income! I will definitely keep you guys posted on the driver experience. If you’re ready to get paid to drive, go here to sign up as an Uber driver.
6. Monetize your talent by doing freelance work.
I recently branched out to freelance writing and proofreading. I like finding work on UpWork and Fiverr. My real passion, though, is in design! I started by designing my own blog images and printables on PicMonkey and Canva, but I am now taking a really great online course for Adobe InDesign through CreativeLive. CreativeLive offers so many free and paid courses that will help you learn just about any creative skill. If you want to monetize your creative passion, I definitely recommend taking some courses to beef up your skills. CreativeLive, Craftsy, and CreativeBug are all great resources for this. Now that I’ve done a bit of design work, I just opened my own Etsy shop! You can go check it out here.
Plus, I just integrated my shop with Printful to create physical products. Printful is an amazing dropshipping service. They can print your designs on posters, clothing, mugs, and so much more! Your customers just have to order from your shop, and Printful will print and ship the product for you. What a great way to earn passive income from your designs! The best part is that Printful is FREE for you to use. You don’t have to pay them anything until you get an order.
7. Start your own blog to make extra money
You probably have talents, skills, and expertise that could benefit others! You can monetize your passions by starting your own blog. Many bloggers start small and end up making a full-time income as they grow. I believe you can too! My current project is creating a free blogging course with tutorials to show you how to get started. Then, I’ll show you how to grow and make money with your blog. Subscribe to my mailing list if you’d like to be updated when I release this content. For now, go check out my favorite web host, Siteground. They are amazing at service, technical issues, and most importantly, keeping my website running all the time. I promise you will not regret starting your website with Siteground.
I hope that my ideas get some creative juices flowing so that you can start a great side hustle to make extra money. Let me know if you have any other money-making ideas that have worked for you. Have fun earning!
