Kids books are the best! My husband once read a statistic that stated that children with two bookcases in the home have higher test scores. At the time, we had one bookcase full of adult textbooks, novels, and other reference books. Right away, we bought another bookcase and started filling it with children’s books for our oldest boy, who was just a baby at the time. That little boy LOVES to read. He will bring me book after book to read to him nonstop.
I’ve compiled this list of our favorite books. These are books that teach kids health, kindness, and preschool skills.
10 Favorite Kids Books that Toddlers will Adore
I have to start one of my favorite classics. My three-year-old still asks me to read this book with him even though we have been reading it since he was a baby. He now has it memorized and “reads” it to his baby brothers.
We love Roger Priddy’s Big Book of Animals. It is a board book with pictures of real animals to help your little one recognize and name one hundred animals.
I love Dr. Seuss! It was hard for me to decide only to include one of his classics on this list. I want to have the whole collection! One Fish, Two Fish, has always made my little one laugh; it makes me happy too. Sometimes all you need is a good laugh to help you feel simple joy.
If your child already knows his ABC’s, then Alpha Oops is another fun book that helps expose your child to more words and the letters of the alphabet they start with.
Elizabeth Verdick’s Toddler Tools are another collection that my toddler and I devoured. Her books helped my toddler get in touch with his feelings and take clean up time, calm down time, and sharing time seriously.
This is another one of the very first books in our collection. We have read it so much that the spine is broken. Max Lucado’s story helps children feel that they are loved unconditionally.
This book rounds up nutrition with the alphabet all in one! It helps kids learn about eating a variety of foods, and it makes it fun with the alphabet!
Baby Be Kind pictures two babies learning what to say and what to do to be kind to one another. It is a good introduction to polite manners and kindness, and it can set a good example for twins.
National Geographic knows just how to provide kids with a wealth of knowledge at any age! Their little kids series is just right for toddlers. The First Big Book of Animals can help kids learn more about many different animals after they learn to recognize them.
This colorful book quizzes toddlers on what they should say to demonstrate polite manners. This book is a fun way to encourage little ones to say “please and thank you.”
I hope you love these books as much as we do!
